Off-the-beaten-path adventures in Quebec

There’s nothing like hitting the road with the family and venturing into natural settings for a lifetime of enjoyable memories for both young and old. If you’re already familiar with yurts and Huttopia tents, you may be interested in trying out some new and innovative forms of accommodation in the great outdoors, as a couple or with the kids.

A floating island just for you

Sleeping in a floating yurt in Gaspé, or in a small cabin on the water in Lac-Saint-Jean, rocked by gentle waves… it’s a dream! This new outdoor accommodation option will give you a unique experience. Perfect for water sports enthusiasts who want a restful break after a short spin in a canoe.

Start your day with a coffee on the dock/patio and end it with a 360-degree sunset view from your floating house! There’s a small stove and a dry toilet, with bedding and dishes supplied. All you need to bring is your food and personal effects. We fully expect the concept to generate more floating ventures on other Quebec lakes and rivers!

Open up to nature from the inside of a bubble

As a form of outdoor lodging that brings friends or families together in a bubble, what could be more literally binding than renting an actual bubble – a transparent dome that gives you a clear view of the sky as you prepare to slumber comfortably.

Several regions in Quebec are already renting domes. Most are perched in elevated locations to enhance stargazing and provide privacy.

They are rented as an all-inclusive package, except for food. A meal delivery service is even available at some locations. It’s nothing like roughing it in a tent!

Modern ecological getaways

Sépaq’s brand new, beautiful, eco-chic Écho cabins let you comfortably recharge your batteries with your family after a day of activities in our provincial parks.

In the Eastern Townships, the VertTendre site also rents modern energy selfsufficient wilderness cottages.

The only things you need to bring with you are your personal effects. Have a real vacation without having to spend too much time packing a suitcase!

Spend a night in the past

A real teepee in Mauricie? A submarine in Rimouski? A prison in Trois-Rivières? A ghost town in Val-Jalbert? These are just a few of the unusual back-to-nature experiences that plunge you into something remote from everyday life – for one, two, or three nights. You’re sure to learn a lot as you explore!

Climb a tree

A classic treehouse: is there a better way to bring back childhood dreams? There are many different options, with a range of comfort levels at each site:

Are you ready to roll? Not so fast! When you’re loading up the car with bags, food, a cooler, chairs, games and everything else, make sure that you can still see what’s behind you in the rearview mirror. Drive safely!
